New Department of Public Works Facility
Sidock Group, Inc. was selected to provide a Master Plan of the City of Livonia’s existing Department of Public Works facilities. We conducted an evaluation of the existing facilities as regards location, structural, mechanical, electrical, capacity needs for personnel, equipment and storage. The studies included a Space Needs Assessment and Site Assessment of the existing DPW buildings, yards, circulation and infrastructure, and the resulting Master Plan included a New Water and Sewer Building. Sustainable Design options, Conceptual Design options and Cost Estimates were provided in the Final Report and presented to the Livonia City Council.
The City evaluated the findings of the Master Plan Final Report and authorized Sidock Group, Inc. to proceed with the design phase for the New Water and Sewer Building. Through a number of workshops between the DPW Design Team and Sidock Group, Inc., a mission was defined, and goals for the new facility were set.
Based on the goals and information gathered in these sessions, SGI designed the new DPW facility consisting of 22,227 SF garage space and 17,446 SF office and shared space, and 2,148 SF mezzanine storage space. The existing Water and Sewer Department facilities remained in operation during construction.
