Lake Bellaire Cottage

Designed for Generations on the Lake

For this northern Michigan residence, we re-imagined an existing cottage property as a lasting family gathering place. Our design responds to both the opportunities of 200 feet of lake frontage and the owners’ desire for a spacious, accessible home that can serve generations to come.

The home stretches along the shoreline, with expansive windows framing lake views and bringing abundant daylight into the interior. Generous living spaces support entertaining and time together, while adaptable planning accommodates the family’s changing needs. Lakeside patios and connecting walkways extend daily life outdoors, keeping the water and surrounding landscape close at hand.

Overlapping gables give the broad footprint a welcoming cottage scale. White siding, dark window frames, wood porch details, and rounded stone accents create a familiar northern Michigan character. Together, these elements reflect our approach to residential design: shaping a home around its setting, the people who use it, and the life they envision sharing.
