Fire Station No. 2
The new Fire Station No. 2 and attached Fire Department Headquarters have a brick and stone exterior and is located on a 7-acre site. The new Fire Station No. 2 replaces a one-bay station and its character reflects Westland’s Fire Station No. 1. The station has three double-length drive-thru bays with support spaces adjacent for turnout gear, medical supplies, decontamination space and a mezzanine area utilized for fitness training. The station has living quarters with a bunk room, separate male and female locker rooms and a Captain’s office.
The headquarters portion of the facility contains offices for the Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Marshal, the balance of the command staff and space for administrative staff. There is a Training Room adjacent to the fire station’s Apparatus Bay that can be used for community functions.
The site has a large detention pond, public parking, staff parking and circulation drives for the station apparatus as well as for a training tower to be constructed in the near future.
